Summer Research Program with Colombian Universities at CCNY
Carlos Silvera Batista from Colombia was the first undergraduate student to work with me at the City College of New York. After successful graduation, Carlos invited me to participate in a conference held at the Universitdad de San Buenaventura in Cartagena de Indias, where he had received his first three years of training in Chemical Engineering. The visit and the support from the New York City Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NYC-LSAMP) enabled the participation of our first two Colombian students in the summer 2008 research program at the City College of New York.
